We’re going to look at Psalms 85:10 and address, “Is Mercy Kissing Truth? 3 Profound Spiritual Connections You Never Knew About!”. In this scripture in the King James, it says mercy and truth are met together. In other words, one’s coming from the left, one’s coming to the right, and they meet. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. And we’re going to be looking into those two parts of that scripture.
In the first half, Mercy and truth meeting together. We will take the second half of the sermon, and deal with the kissing part. In the final section, we will reveal the weapons that God gives us for a successful life.

The Meeting Between Mercy and Truth
First of 3 Profound Spiritual Connections
Mercy and truth… God’s mercy and the truth of Jesus Christ. When those two meet together and come alive in our life, God’s mercy and the truth of Jesus Christ, it does something inside of us.
We experience something when we bring together God and his mercy and Jesus and his truth… It becomes real to us.
I want you to picture… Here’s God up here on the balconies of heaven, and here’s Jesus appearing on the earth.
Picture this…
I can just see it… It says, God is going to look down from the balconies of heaven and see his son, Jesus Christ, on this earth. Sent here by God to accomplish a purpose that he desires to have accomplished. The truth, Jesus, will appear on earth and righteousness, God, will look down from heaven. There was a time of separation between God and his son.
From the time when he was conceived until sometime after Mary gave birth, God and Jesus were separated. They were separated the whole time that he was in an earthen vessel, Mary. But there’s going to come a time when he’s going to spring forth out of that earthen vessel, here on this earth, and appear. That’s when it says, God’s going to look down from the balconies of heaven and see his son born unto a virgin and springing forth into the earth.
Truth Appearing…
This is the truth that we were talking about, when it says that mercy and truth will appear on the earth. Jesus is fulfilling this word right here; that he is the way, and he has come to this earth to make a way for us. He’s doing it through truth and through life because he received the life here on this earth. It says, by mercy, which is God, and by truth, which is Jesus, iniquity is purged out of our life.
By the fear of the Lord, it causes men to depart from evil.
God is good. We’ve established that. We know that. Even people out in the world know that God is good. He represents good in a person’s life. His mercy is everlasting.
Truth Endures…
His truth endures to all generations. God, out of his mercifulness, sent his son, Jesus Christ, the truth of Jesus Christ, to be everlasting. He created a covenant with us that is everlasting. See all the generations from the time that he came all the way through to where it is the end of mankind on this earth, his truthfulness is lasting to all generations. Previous to that, in the Old Testament, it was God’s mercy that was upon those people.
His mercy was there for them. But for us and for our age, it’s the truthfulness of Jesus Christ. It’s the truth of Jesus Christ that is lasting through all of our generations.
The people that are going to devise evil, they’re making a mistake. Based on this scripture, I think we need to be trying to devise good instead of trying to devise evil. The word devise means to plan or to plot, to invent. It can be used for good or for evil. Planning, plotting, inventing, can be for good or we could plan, plot, invent, ways to do evil.
What Side Are You On…
I want to be on the side that’s striving to do good. It says that mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good. We read earlier in the scriptures where it’s God’s mercy and it’s the truth of Jesus Christ; those two will be with us if we do good.
God and his son and his word are going to be with us as we go about our daily walk. How many of you need a time of favor in your life? Well, the key is to get up in the morning and begin to devise good. To think on good, to desire to do good, to plan to do good, to go forth to do good, and ask for that time of favor. Because he’ll grant you that time of favor.
Mercy and truth are what we want, bind them around our neck’s, write them upon the tablets of our heart’s, do not let them forsake us.
When we have a chance to be with mercy and truth, we need to cling to that. Don’t let the enemy destroy it, don’t let the enemy take it away from us, hold it fast, keep it dear to us, keep it near to our hearts and grasp that… because it’s important.
God is in heaven, peering down over the balconies of heaven, looking at his son on earth. God has plans for our lives and Jesus will make them happen for you this morning and we’ll be victorious as long as we cling to mercy and truth.
The Kiss Between Righteousness and Peace
Second of 3 Profound Spiritual Connections
Now we’re going to get into that separation part that I was talking about. There’s a period of time where Jesus and God were separated, and he’s talking about Mary.
The whole time, Jesus Christ, that little babe that was born just now, was shrouded and hidden in an earthen vessel, he had disappeared from heaven. If you can picture the angels… God knew what he had done.
God knew where he had sent his son, but the angels weren’t privy to that. One day, they’re looking around and, “Where’s Jesus? Well, that’s odd. He’s been here for eternity. He’s been here since before the worlds were framed. He was here before there was anything, and now, you know, he hadn’t been around. He hadn’t been around for a little while. Where is he?”
Hidden From Sight…
They couldn’t sense him; they couldn’t feel him. He was inside of an earthen vessel. The very son of God was hidden in an earthly vessel, shrouded in that earth, waiting to take on flesh and become man. All man and yet all God.
He’s disappeared, if you can picture that, from the presence of heaven.
It was as though all of heaven was wondering where Jesus had gone, but God is righteousness and Jesus is peace. Those angels proclaimed that God in the highest and on earth, peace. They’re starting to realize God is in heaven, in the highest, but on earth, peace, goodwill towards men.
This is where righteousness and peace kiss. This kiss refers to someone that has been separated for a period of time, but then they come into contact with another.
It’s a welcoming kiss of being back in each other’s presence. A brotherly kiss, a sisterly kiss of being back in each other’s presence.
The Separation of God and His Son…
God and his son were separated… Truth will spring up from the earth. The truth is Jesus, the truth of Jesus Christ. Righteousness will look down from heaven, and I believe at that point, when the whole host of heavenly angels that were singing glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace, goodwill towards men… I could just picture those angels going, “There! Look! There he is! It’s Jesus! He’s down on the earth! His presence has been revealed! I wonder what God’s got planned?”
Righteousness in heaven, looking down and seeing the truth of Jesus Christ appear on this earth. God is bringing salvation to earth. God has sent his word to earth to do what he needs to be done. Jesus sprung out of the earthen vessel, which was Mary.
Earthen Vessels…
We’re here on this earth and we’re earthen vessels, but we have this power, this extraordinary power that may be from God. It has to be that way because he doesn’t want us to think that it’s from us. When we witness to people on the streets and we talk to them and the word of God comes out of us, it’s nothing for this body to brag about. We’re just an earthen vessel.
There’s nothing that we can brag about, but it’s so that that extraordinary power is coming directly from God. Mary had this treasure in her earthly vessel, so that the excellency of the power may be of God.
The lord will provide what is good and our earthen vessel, our earthy vessel will bring forth our increase. We’re not able to provide the good that the world needs, but we can be a vessel. We can be the earth that God dispenses in, just like he dispensed his son into the earth. His earth, his son appeared, truth appeared. Well, truth can just suddenly appear out of us.
As we’re walking through and going about our day, God will provide what is good. If we put his word inside of us, God will provide what is good. He’ll provide what is needed. He’ll provide what the person needs that we’re talking to. Our land, our body, our land can yield its increase to the world, and he can speak forth out of us.
Jesus, the Peace on Earth…
The angels told the shepherds that there was going to be peace on earth and goodwill towards men. That was when Jesus appeared on this earth. Well, he appears in our lives just that way too. We bring peace on earth and goodwill towards men. That’s like the scripture that talks about devising evil or devising good.
If we’re to be bringing peace on earth, we don’t need to be bringing strife. That should be our attitude as we get up in the morning and we go about our day. Our attitude should be peace. Peace on earth. But you can show forth that and you don’t even have to say it.
Like Jesus appeared on this earth. Just God’s presence can appear in our life. People can see that there’s something there, that there’s peace on earth, and there’s goodwill towards men.
His righteousness, sending forth the son, Jesus, walking on this earth and he can put us in the pathway. He can put us in front of the steps where Jesus is walking as he comes on this earth.
It’s the same way with us. It does the same thing inside of us. Righteousness can go before us and put people in our steps. He can put people in our path that we need to have thoughts of peace and goodwill towards. The people that he puts in our path, because we represent the heavenly father, we represent his righteousness and his mercy and his goodness… we are to show those things towards them. Jesus is here, with us, to see that carried out through the people that are in our paths.
The Essential Weapons of a Successful Life

The Hebrew meaning of that word, kissed. There’s another meaning. Two soldiers coming together and exchanging weapons of war. Instantly, I thought, wow! Jesus has disappeared from heaven, and he’s come to earth as a babe, and the father’s looking over and they greet each other and the father says, okay. You’re here on earth, but I’ve got the weapons that you’re going to need while you’re here on earth. I’m going to exchange my power and my weapons with you so that you will have the weapons that you need to fight the fight that you need to fight. And the same thing happens with us whenever we allow his peace and his goodness to flow forth out of our life. It’s like a kissing or an embracing and it’s also like, okay, we’re together now, and we’re going to work together. My power and my strength and my weapons are yours as long as you’ll continue to walk in the path that I’ve had you to walk in.
